WARHAMMER: Age of Reckoning
Warhammer

Overview
WAR is an upcoming MMORPG based on Games Workshop's popular Warhammer fantasy war game. Players must choose a realm(order or chaos). Within each allegiance there are 3 races. The basis of WAR is the conflict between the two sides. This game is based on Realm vs. Realm™ (RvR) game play where players of one side fight against the players of another. WAR provides a fully-realized PvE and RvR experience for players to enjoy. This will include plenty of high-end content for both, including dungeons and Public Quests.

WAR Background
When the first reports of the Chaos Plague begin to appear in the fringe settlements of the Empire, they are dismissed as fanciful tales conjured to frighten away unwanted visitors. When the plague appears in the streets of Altdorf, however, the situation changes completely. By the time the Emperor issues his first quarantine order, the vile disease has already spread across most of his lands. The Empire's doctors work day and night to combat the sickness, but the plague defies all efforts at a cure.

Victims of the Chaos Plague first experience tiredness, aching, soreness and extreme thirst. Bouts of nausea follow, but it takes nearly a month to reach the final stages of the disease. It is only then that the horrific nature of the plague is made clear; those unfortunate souls who have experienced plague symptoms for three to four weeks begin to change, transforming into fiendish Chaos mutants that savagely attack any living creature that they see. Those lucky enough to avoid contracting the plague are often killed by the savage monsters spawned from it.

With each passing month, the death toll mounts. Quarantines and martial law fail to slow the spread of the disease, and paranoid fear grips every village and town within the Empire's borders. Militiamen in plague-wracked cities are forced to combat the hordes of Chaos mutants roaming their streets, leaving their walls undefended against threats from without. Emboldened gangs of brigands roam the countryside, looting, burning and killing at will. The scope of the tragedy is almost unparalleled in the history of the Empire, but the Chaos Plague is merely a precursor to a much greater evil yet to come.

AoC Background
Conan is a fantasy character created by author Robert E. Howard. Howard wrote a series of stories during the 1930's which took place in the fictional world of Hyboria, where the protagonist was a mighty and fearsome barbarian called Conan. The Howard stories all follows Conan’s life as he evolves from a young warrior and thief to finally become king of Aquilonia, the mightiest nation of Hyboria.

Gameplay
In this game there are two realms, six armies, and three battlefronts. Each realm is comprised of a loose alliance of armies that have formed out of circumstance - the Alliance of Order (Dwarfs, High Elves, and the Empire) and the Armies of Destruction (Greenskins, Dark Elves, and Chaos). Everything you do in WAR furthers the cause of your army and thus your realm.

Realm vs. Realm™ combat in WAR centers around the above armies and takes place on one of three fronts where ancient foes battle one another – Dwarfs vs. Greenskins, High Elf vs. Dark Elf, and Empire vs. Chaos humans. Players begin the game fighting their racial enemy, but are later free to journey to other battlefronts to help their allies in the larger struggle.

A particular dark elf, for example, can work with allies to invade the capital cities of the Empire, high elves, or the dwarfs. That same dark elf can choose instead to defend his own lands or those belonging to his Greenskin or Chaos "allies." You cannot make characters on the same server for both factions (i.e. Chaos and Order on the same server)

Group size limit is currently 6 players. This could still change before launch. There also will be a mechanic to join more than one group into something similar to DAoC's battelgroups or WoW's raids, but there is currently no information on the size limit of these raids/battlegroups.

Death Penalty:
There is no experience loss at death. No corpse runs, no shadow crossing. You will respawn at the point where you are resurrected, or at a designate spawn point such as a camp or a graveyard

Combat
Combat in WAR will not be "twitch-based", that is to say you will not manually aim the exact location where you want your spells, shots or melee blows to hit. Your attack speed will be based off your character's stats, weapon and what abilities you use, like most MMORPGs. There is an auto-attack function, but the vast majority of your damage will be from special attacks. EA Mythic has said the majority of the spells for caster classes will not be castable while moving or be instant-cast. It is unknown at this time how exactly the melee abilities will work or whether they will be based mostly on instant or mostly on weapon speed ("next swing").

Collision detection is currently implemented for enemies only, meaning you will not collide with your allies, for anti-abuse purposes (Griefers blocking doorways, preventing their allies from entering a building, etc). However, Mythic is still considering the possiblity of putting it in for both allies and enemies.

Morale:
Morale abilities are powerful abilities that cost Morale when used. Morale builds up from 0% to 100% over time as long as you are in combat. There are two possibilites to gain a new morale ability: either through a common level up of your character or through a mastery tree. Morale abilites are divided into 4 different ranks. The lowest and weakest rank abilites can be used at 25% Morale, the second lowest at 50%, the third at 75% and the most powerful at 100%.

Tactics:
Tactics are passive abilities such as heal effectiveness or resistance increases you can only swap out of combat. Each character has a certain number of tactic slots he can fill with the tactics. Tactics can be learned at level up or gained through mastery paths.

Normal Abilities:
Normal abilites are common skills that are the same for every class. They cost Action points to use. Normal abilites can range from melee attacks to powerful spells, and are received upon level up depending on your class.

The level cap is 40.

Quests:
There are 3 kinds of quests in WAR. Players willbe able to share current quests they are on

1. There are your “standard” PvE quests that occurs entirely outside of the RvR skirmish zones.

2. Then there are PvE quests that require you to ENTER an RvR-flagged area, but do not require you to kill another player to complete them.

3. Finally, there are RvR quests that require you to enter an RvR skirmish zone AND require you to kill another player (or players) to complete it. Attacking towers and keeps was Camelot’s game, WAR is focused on player combat.

If you’re involved in a Public Quest in any (positive) way, you’ll get rewarded. You will be rewarded even if you die. You earn Influence for your participation and can “spend” that on associated awards. The more you participate in a PQ, the more Influence you earn and the cooler the Influence Rewards you’ll get to choose from. When a PQ is successfully completed, those players that participated the most will also have the best chance of winning the loot dropped by the boss.

PvP/RvR
When you kill a player, there’s a chance that there will be items on the corpse. And as the killer, you will be able to loot the corpse. Said items are generated much in the same way as loot on an NPC would be. You’re not actually taking the person’s gear you just killed, but you CAN get loot for killing other players.

You will not be able to communicate with the enemy realm at any time.

The war machines from Warhammer Fantasy Battle are likely to be represented in WAR. They will play a role in both besieging and defending a keep. Keeps are, quite simply put, strongholds within the PvP areas. They may contain battlefield objectives or be a battlefield objective themselves.

Taking a keep will require you to lay siege to it and eventually breach its defenses and slay the defenders. What exactly triggers the capturing is unknown at this point. For taking a keep, you may use siege weapons to get access to the keep. The actual details of these are unkown, as well.

Only guilds will be able to claim keeps. It is unkown what benefits this will have for the guild or the keep, but the guild will presumably be able to upgrade the keep somehow or receive a warning when it is under attack. There also might be cosmetic things like the guild's banenr floating from the top of the keep.

Mounted combat will not be in the game at release. It is a possible addition for the future, though.
Gameplay
Age of Conan will feature a limited single-player portion at the start of the game. Here you advance through a deep and involving story, where the focus is on you, your character and your place in the world. After a while you will start meeting other players, but you will be able to switch between single-player and multiplayer during the first twenty levels of your character's life. After that, its all massively multiplayer.

The level cap is 80. Forty normal skill levels (standard MMORPG XP) and forty different player-versus-player levels . You gain PvP levels by fighting battles with other players

Fighting between players is consensual because it is limited to certain areas of the game world. If you want to avoid player-versus-player combat, all you have to do is avoid these areas. There are other areas to engage in player-versus-player combat. You can, for instance, pick a fight at a tavern once you get drunk enough, or you can get involved in mini-games in the arenas.

One of the key features of Age of Conan is the unique combat system, which is a huge leap forward for the genre both from a technological and a gameplay standpoint. Whereas fighting in most MMOs involves targeting by clicking something, initiating attack and then clicking a combination of icons, fighting in Age of Conan centers around something we call the Real Combat System. In this innovative approach to MMO melee combat you don't target anything directly, you actually move up to your foe and start striking your weapon in different directions in real-time, using directional keys or even a gamepad.

In ranged combat you will actually have to string your bow and aim manually from a first-person or over-the-shoulder viewpoint to strike your enemies.

Players will be able to create formations that will increase the participants damage output and defense rating, as well as giving special types of attacks. A formation will have a leader who can designate spots in the formation for players, and the players have to stand at the specific spot for the formation to reach its maximum potential. Formation combat will naturally be very useful in PvP battles, but will also play a vital role in PvE.

Battlekeeps are structures that players can build and maintain in the Border Kingdom. Throughout the Border Kingdom there is a limited amount of areas where battlekeeps can be built. Because of the limited amount of space, other guilds will most surely come and try to take it away from you or even destroy it completely through the use of siege engines such as catapults. By using collected resources such as iron, stone and wood, players can build upon these battlekeeps, constructing walls and even stables to house the cavalry. It is also possible to add computer-controlled guards to these.

Server types:
(PVE, PVP, RPPVP).
There will be rules of etiquette and a restricted naming policy on RPPVP server

Groups:

* Small xp bonus for killing stuff
* 3 loot options: round robin, free for all, master looter.
* Quest items always drop for every groupmember with the quest
* Nearly all smaller caves or minidungeons (like the maze or acheronian ruins) have a hero mode (a challenging groupgame), because those dungeons are normally made for solo or minigroups.

Mounts:
There will be mounted combat in the game, where players can get hold of mounts such as horses and camels. You can fight from the backs of these great creatures – either with a sword or with a lance for maximum damage

* There will be a big choice of horses (5-10 in different colors)
* Differ in hitpoints, turn radius, stamina, speed
* All mounts can attack on their own and cause different damage
* Many spells can be fired from the back of a horse
* Its possible to get kicked of the horse during a fight
* The warmammoth and the rhino are nearly the same in stats, the rhino is more agile though and the warmammoth has more HP
* Mammoth and rhino are exclusiv preorder items atm
* Requirement for a mount is lvl40
* Mounts are inventory items, you can have many of them
* Currently mounts cannot be customized at release, but they will come up with something later. its unclear what a mount does, when you dismoount atm.

Stealth:

* Every class is able to stealth
* Different possibilites to detect a stealthed player:
- Stealth skill: raised with skillpoints
- Perception: if its higher then the stealth skill of a player, you detect him faster
- Noise: dependent of the gear you wear, the surface, the speed
- Viewcone: a stealthed player infront of you, will be detected easier
- Lighting level: easier to see a stealthed player at day
* There will be a interface which lets you see the lighting level

PVP

Anyone who is not in your group is attackable (they think about adding guildmembers to the non attack list no matter if they are in another group or solo)

There´s a pvp variation of all equipment stats

There will be a pvp ranking system which increases with pvp kills and decreases with pvp deaths

The highest ranked pvpers will be awarded with ingame items
different styles of CTF arenas, the ones we saw at CES etc were Stygian style maps, there will be more after launch

Besides CTF, there will be team annihilation

CTF battles involve battling it out with the other team in an 8 player, 4-vs.-4 format where you have 10 minutes to win the match completely, of which involves capturing the other team's flag three times before they capture yours the same number. (curse article)

There is also a Team Deathmatch type of instanced PvP, both with Ranked or Skirmish options. In Ranked matches, dying means you lose "PvP experience"

No death penalty besides loss of pvpranking and blood money. you don´t drop a tombstone when you die by another player.

See My AoC PvP Guide
Age of Conan PvP Guide: "Mama Said Knock You Out!"

Crafting

* Every character can learn one crafting profession
* You can only learn one crafting profession
* Current minimum level is 40, but they think about lowering it to 20
* Crafting profs are: weaponsmith, armorsmith, alchemist, gemcutter, architekt.
* Crafting experience will only be gained through crafting quests
* Recipes will be always usable (are non consumable)
* Leveling crafting will be fast (approx. some hours)
* Nearly all items have 2 variations, crafted with normal resources and with rare. only craftable items have sockets for gems
* Sockets come in different sizes, 4 per item are usable
* Gems cant be removed, once equipped
* Most of the crafted items or even all wont have stats like strength or inteligence. they´ll have ground values.
* Crafted items without gems are not comparable with very good looted items, however they are more flexiable then looted items. they are good against opponents with special resistances or weaknesses.
* Higher quality items can only be obtained from people who are in a guild and in a guildcity crafted in special crafting places.
* Crafting works everywhere
* The crafting process is automatic and you wont lose your crafting resources in the crafting process

Harvesting

* 6 harvesting profs (Mining, Prospecting, Skinning, Stonecutting, Weaving, Woodcutting)
* you can learn all harvesting profs at once
* every resource has 6-8 levels (i.e. for mining: bronze, iron,...)
* chance of getting a rare resource (within level) during harvesting
* resources are displayed on the minimap
* can be found in the city zones (crafting city and border kingdoms) and rarely in the world
* there is no plan to specialze in a specific resource
* there are additional resources, dropped by specific mobs
* Gemcutter and Alchemist harvest their resources through killed mobs
* harvesting nodes are specially designed with particle effects to make it easier to notice them

Classes

You don’t have to start making decisions regarding your profession until you’ve reached level five. At level 5 you pick an archetype. The archetypes are Soldier, Mage, Priest and Rogue. The classes that are available to you are determined from which archetype you choose and your race

There will be three difference races upon the launch of Age of Conan. In Age of Conan the three nations that are planned for launch are Aquilonia, Cimmeria and Stygia. Soldier
Guardian
Conqueror
Dark Templar

Priest
Priest of Mitra
Tempest of Set
Shaman

Rogue
Barbarian
Assassin
Ranger

Mage
Necromancer
Herald of Xotli
Demonologist

At one point there was supposed to be prestige classes: The Crafter, the Lord, the Commander and the Master. These however have been dropped. Benefits and abilities will now go into a more open and flexible system. Each of these has extremely valuable advantages that can be used both in solo play and in team play, and each has specific skills and benefits that can make a great difference. Examples include expand groups and use special formations during combat, building cities and gathering resources.

Cant wait to play it. I really need a beta key
Jimmy123
I thought id wait till WAR was released until i build myself a new P.C but seeing and reading up on AoC ive changed my mind. It looks to be a great game
Airslayerx
Just let me say this, when WAR comes out, I won't be surprised if other game companies(blizzard, nc soft, etc.) lose some major cash, I heard the beta test is better than Wow.
Bachanam
Personally I think the entire game is what attracts me to it. Sticking to the Lore of Conan, keeping him the intelligent Strong-willed Conan from the books as opposed to the funny yet incorrect Drunken Bafoon Conan from the movies ((which i still enjoy, punching a camel while drunk then seeing it later and it is retarded from your fist)) Keeping to the 3 kingdoms and their styles (classes/beliefs etc.) This is a well rounded game in my opinion, but if I had to choose one of the poll options, considering I have a beer in my hand, I'm gonna have to say the Conan-style Humor is what gives me the tinglies right now!!
Fex
What attracts me to WAR is everything in it. The PvP (RvR) sounds just so nicely done, and is all what I ever wanted from a MMORPGs PvP aspect! Also, the PvE sounds very interesting! Can't wait!
Skyline
Combat Sytem and Graphics attracts me most to AoC. Although, Those two alone will not hold my attention for long if they don't have other things to offer. Content! Content! Content!
Crimsonsteel
This game looks brilliant to me, and with mythic's extensive experience and the rich lore and backing of games workshop, this game is going to rock!
Btk
I will try AoC when it releases and am excited they kept on target with the lore from Robert E Howard. However, WAR is supposed to release a few months after AoC, so there will no doubt be a flame war over which one is more fun. I loved RvR in DAoC, but the unique mechanics of AoC are what will probably sway my decision.
JohnRambo
I'l try both for sure. I hope at least one of them can live up to the expectations...
Daworm
The classes need to be updated. Lich is merged into Necro and DotS and Scion of Set are merged into a new class "Tempest of Set".

Also, Game Cards will be available

--|||Edited and Updated, THANKS!|||--

I have been following this game since Climax was at the helm. I just love the game mechanics. Plus, the game is not a system hog. RvR is going to be a blast.

The Gameplay section seems wrong in chunks.

Max levels are wrong (Max level is 80).

Formations are wrong (and gone from the game).

--|||UPDATED! New max levels|||--

WAR is going to be the best game EVER, huge RvR battles where you will try to take your enemies capital city & taking over keeps.
24 classes and at lvl 40 you can choose 1 of 3 paths, or you can mix them up. so more than 92 classes!!!

Formations are still in and can be player made the actual feature that gave buffs and gave one person control over the location of a player group is gone due to being to restrictive.

The game will also come out in Spanish and has a spanish community site, other language packs might be made available later and as downloadable content for free on the main site. Odd that you didn't list english in the european distrubution.

Prestige classes are out, the benefits and abilities will now go into a more open and flexible "salad bowl" system.

--|||UPDATED! Thanks for the input|||--

Look at the left side, better game there.

Wooohooo! WAR is gonna be the bomb!

AoC sux

There's no competition between WAR and AoC.

They are to some extent very different.

Also imo the AoC lore sucks.
Adrian Alexa
I'm in the AoC beta, and I must admit, IT IS CRAP! I got REALY bored when I hit level 10...REALY bored...Combat takes like 4 seconds and you don't even NEED to use any Spells, Special attacks, etc. The combat is WAYY to easy. PvP is also short and realy boring, because the "minigames" have realy small maps, and bad content...

Look at the right side, better game there.
WarSUXXOR
Im in WAR Beta and man does it suck compared to AoC. War has a lot of whiny little kids on it. It's another 1 button masher, whereas Conan takes some coordination to play. Conan isnt gear dependant, saw a video from kissmybuns.net that a naked lvl 20 was ganking everything she saw, Looked awesome!!! WAR Beta=FAIL AoC=PASS

War>AoC
Sulvor
Awesome Game, Won't do as good as War because its more Mature based... and we all know what kind The Internet Breeds mainly... So AoC = Mature, WAR=Kiddies (WoW PVP'rs)
my 2 cents.
Oh and the system Requirements are more than the average mommas boy can afford.

WAR is better
DarkfallMortalEarthriseShadowbaneClassicUO
AoC is just a clone of WoW! This is a (PvE) mmo. Anyone who thinks this is a PvP mmo is just a fag that has no skill that hides behind gear, items and level! Shame on you!
Adrian Alexa
WAR, I think will be the champion. It looks awsome. I have seen all the podcasts/gameplay videos and it looks amaizing!

I think Age of Conan will be better because of the more mature content

This.
game.
will.
rock.

I definately love the fact that it is so heavily pvp oriented, but with what we've all seen, there might be balance issues, QQing and patches more to anyone's liking...

The combat system is what draws me to this game. It is simple and complex in all the right ways, and there is a higher skill requirement than just pressing buttons fast enough. It is more invoved and realistic... kinda...

and of course... the graphics? *cream* 'Nuff said. The character customization option is what is very unique, as Funcom has an understanding the in an online world with thousands of players, individuality is VERY coveted. It will be provided in AoC, and that is what will give others incentive to "choose their name and carve their destiny". Very appealing.

AoC > WAR

whoa wtf happened to my comment
Rofl
Since warcraft cloned warhammer when the first game launch, why would their not be similarities? The races look different, the races are for the most part different... and their is meaning behind loosing in RvR over the crap that Blizzard calls BGs. Personally I am gonna give AoC a shot first, if it is the suck at least WAR will keep me away from the fail blizzard is charging us for.
Grah
I don't know... AoC doesn't look like its quite ready for release just yet. Warhammer on the other hand has been bumped back two or three times and it still might not be out when they say it will be. I want the game to be playable when it comes out. I don't want to have to download a patch every other day.
Waaagh
WAAAAGH! War is almost here! Can finally delete WoW from the hard drive.
Littlejohnny
Im only 11 years old and ill be pwaying age of conan it will pwn . more like craphammer oncrap. lawls.

All I have to say is that Warhammer online is awesome

and age of conan is going to blow chunks out on the rug
Faghammer Online
Warhammer, haha more like Faghammer
Sgtsniper
AoC will not do as well as warhammer due to the fact that kids have more time on their hands than adults which means kids play mmos much more often.

Warhammer is just like WoW, not only that but the creators of War are MYTHIC! The same mythic who completely destroyed DAoC!

War will attract more kids than adults, while AoC attracts more adults than kids, which imo makes it a better game even without everything that war has (which rly aint 2 much)

im 15, and i hate wow

1 more day, god its taking forever!

any1 who plays this game is gonna be boned by mythic, just like in daoc

Looks promising, I'll wait for some reviews before I decide though.
About grinding: it's what all mmos are about. If you don't like it, try some other genres.
DrowNoble
EA has their filthy hands in this game so I will not be touching it. Soon as Mark Jacobs sold out his company I lost all respect for them.

You have to laugh at Sgtsniper talking about more kids playing WAR and adults will be playing AoC. He is only 15, he is a kid himself....he shouldn't even be playing AoC unless he lies on his age when registering
Tebbycakes.
Looks like WoWHammer online to me.
Cuntflaps
HELLLLOOOOO

Looks amazing. Can't wait to give it a whirl. For the blood god!
Nonan
49.95 for this and its a subscription. no thanks!
Optional
With all the talk about WoW and Warhammer being a clone I don't think that is a bad thing. WoW has destroyed everything so far that has come out. Lets face it how many of you have LoR or D&D online subscriptions and how many of you have WoW subscriptions. If WAR can give the 9 million of us that play WoW a better yet similar experience than it will win. Also I wanted to try out AoC and was a little annoyed to find that there wasn't a playable demo. I found somebody with a copy and while I now have the demo codes he would have to mail me his CD's to install. Also I don't know if I would go for the Tekken type PvP mechanics and Mortal Kombat style fatalities. Still enjoy hearing the Undead death sound.

Looking forward to AoC simply because of the combat system. Granted WAR seems to be a good game and both will compete with WoW but AoC just seems to have more to offer. Neither are very revolution just better gfx's and different gameplay however AoC seems to be something refreshing and new. Will deffinetly give both a try but i think AoC has the edge which can be seen in it's preder and beta records over 1milion signed up before the game as even launched thats better than any MMO even Wow didn't get that. Can't wait going to be awsome.

World of Warhammer Craft, nuff said.

Well I can't know for sure since I have not played either game, but after reading about both games I have to say WAR looks like it will be alot better.
Milinko
AoC seems to be way to easy to level up in, i saw a level 80 not even 3 days after the release. Also, major bug issues right now, they should of pushed release back again and fixed more of the issues it has. Oh and the graphics are not that all impressive, this game did not live up to my expectation. Looking forward to WarHammer Online.

A lot of kids are going to play Aoc doesn't really matter what the rating is im 15 and i play aoc btw the game is asume im a lvl 35 assassin and still having plenty of fun

i can finally delete wow

milinko u are an idiot AoC isnt easy to lvl just becouse someone is lvl 80 doesn't meant anything he probably plays non stop and got the 3 day early sing up and if u think the graphics are bad u need a new computer it looks amazing. There is some bugs like getting stuck but that happens to all mmos thats why they keep patching it up wow has been out for about 4 years and they still patch it regularly fixing bugs

War is for children who want the same thing as WoW with a different name. The graphix are the same or worse from my point of view. Face it. Just keep your WoW account and save your money.
TXCAngel
is it just me or do i see a significantly lower rate of flaming and trash talk on this side of the arena? (AoC side i mean)

lol I agree. Is anyone actually looking at the videos and images posted? They look worse than WoW in some cases and why would you want that??? Maybe if your lucky Bliz will give you an expansion that lets you have the 1 or 2 differences that are in WAR! Maybe in 7 or 8 years or so...

Not really TXCAngel, AoC is a toilet.

Mature my ass

had beta game wasn't what it was supposed to be at all.

AoC isn't fun.

ITS ALLRIGHT!

Funcom are a pack of liers they sold me 20% of a game and the other 80% is broken and they dont even look like they are going to fix it anytime soon. Funcom has the worst CS taking care of a wopping 5 tickets a day on my server(stormrage). Warhammer or Bust is what i say. but dont take my word for it waste your money and see for your self. Youll likely disagree with me till around level 35-40. But youll see.

These guys REALLY need to give the graphics an edge, thats the only thing holding me back from luvin' it so far, I mean look at the buildings!! they look PLASTIC, the game needs an authentic 'feel', just like WoW pwned the cartoony feel :P
Laggos
With AOCs' better graphics and massive PVP, it will certainly be a popular game. I mean Guild owned battlekeeps, that just awesome. And the quest givers talking to u. The content in AOC is quite unique and i cant wait to play it
Vet
The graphics for WAR look horrible. I mean, AoC may have some high system requirments but WAR should at least try to find a happy medium.
Laggos
Cheaper than WOW slightly for australians as well

yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

AOCC!!!!

GO AOC

It really isnt fair to compare these games becase their based on 2 totally diffrent things. AND WarHammer = fanatasy, AoC = realism ( more than Warhammer). AoC is more mature gameplay ( from what i have read on numerous forums which i prefer because in WoW you have a bunch of kiddies running around getting people banned for cussing and none scence shit ). Anyways this is just my thought. I am really going to enjoy playing AoC because it is based on more of a realism point of play.
Ravager
every 1 become a assasin

I'm in beta, and damn does it rock.
Evol
I think the guy who was saying AoC will have massive pvp with keeps is getting confused with WAR. AoC has kill whoever you want pvp...no organized pvp at all as far as I know.

its brilliant
Maroussi21
i play wow for 3 years, but it seems that this game has nothing to offer me now. Don't know when the exp. will finally be launched and aoc seems a good idea to chill out and enjoy some good adult adventure

Looking forward to this, especially since I've played DAoC. I hope it doesn't dissapoint

This THE place for PVP.

Very boring beta. Get a life or find a better game!

Age of Conan is the Future. I've been playing since the early 3 day release and it rocks. I play it on low graphics settings right now, and it is still beautiful. The water, the scenery and the characters are just plain stunning. The story line is awesome, reminds me of something from a well written movie. The complainers and bashers obviously haven't played. They are probably just the kids that are still playing WoW because their mom won't buy them an M rated game.

Ok game, but AOC wins hands down.

YARRR! PIRATES!

These both look like good games with plenty of potential, and some of the launch problems of Age of Conan will probably be ironed out by the time Warhammer Online comes out, so we can only really judge which is the best a couple of months after War arrives. However.....

Who cares? Starcraft Online is going to destroy both of them! However, Age of Conan will be better than it was at release than Warhammer will be by the time War finally comes out. Regardless, I reiterate, who cares? Wrath of the Lich King will make WoW EVEN BETTER, and what with all the other games that will come out soon [Spore, Civilization Revolution, Alone In The Dark, Starcraft II (and Starcraft Online eventually), Little Big Planet, Battlefield: Bad Company, Champions Online, Prototype, InFamous, Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, Too Human, Saint's Row 2, Stargate Worlds, Alpha Protocal, Assassin's Creed 2, ect.] these games may not live past three years, unless they are particularily amazing, and though I wish I could play Age of Conan now and see what's what, I just ordered a new laptop, so I'm holding off 'till it arrives.

So far i have played the beta the open beta the early access and finally the retail relase of AoC there have been vast improvements and some set backs. I for one have been a fan of both Whammer since orcs verses humans came out as well as some of the original readings on Conan. I am DEF awaiting both games and will prob find time here and there to play all 3 Including WoW. Why you ask because they all look to beat any other games out on the market.

I own AoC and am in the beta for Warhammer. Let's just say I find very little reason to even log in to AoC.

Age of Conan IS A PC MURDERER!!!!!!SAVE YOURSELF

I have had more fun doing public quests then playing anything, and the instance pvp area was the thrill of a fps with the character and style of wow. The jokes and that gritty feeling make it very very amusing. I always end up wanting and wishing i could play more in PVP or PVE even after playing 12+ hours.

There is also no siting around time like wow, no more waiting to make groups or battle ground ques. No more waiting for ppl to sign on. Its just there and ready for you to play. If you want to lay siege to something Do it, there is always people around to back you.
FORCE
ITS BETTER

Chuck Norris lost to WAR in PVP. AOC is a broken POS with no endgame and false advertising right their on their GAMEBOX like Dx10 support, seige weapons, ect ect. 80% of AOC will remain in people's gullible immagination.

Watch google kills your computer on youtube, thats what Age of Conan will do to your comp....You're gunna need some damn good antivirus!!!!

I almost bought AoC the other day until I learned you have to have a subscription. So I spent some time to read all the reviews and opinions I could. It seems it may be a good game, BUT, something about spending $49.95 for a game so that you can spend more money each month to play the thing that seems a little evil. $49.95 pays for the game software, so therefore you should be able to play it! Period. I'm definitely NOT buying and having money extorted from me each month.

ALsire
forty-nine ninety five... that's what it should say up there..lol

Kaarox
Don't forget WOW people... I'm hoping wow just dies in a corner.. im not a fan of WAR at all and AOC really has a good look to me, the story line is somthing i can understand and see myself being involved in (in game anyway) and the graphics are actually decent compared to WoW and WAR..

I HOPE ITS THE NEXT POPULAR MMORPG
=) AOC for the win

VET
AoC looks fun... but I'm worried about all this ganking that keeps on getting brought up. It's sold pretty well, but I think that can be attributed to the boobs.

Valtello
Hope this is the wow killer, WoW = Timezappingly boring

Bought it, deleted it, cancelled subscription.

Nuff said

BeenPlayingSinceUO
Leveled an 80 Priest of Mitra, not much to do, a lot of crap broken, game was rushed. System requirements are heavy, hence there won't be as much players as there could be. A bit disappointed, will most likely play until WAR comes out.

AoC is terrible... the combat takes two seconds, and the PvP is too fast... AoC was supposed to be the big "skilled MMO PvP" game, but the "skill" is just simple timing that any child could pull off...

WoW was an amazing game, but it sucks now, its repetitive and boring, and the PvP sucks...

I can't comment on WAR too much yet because I'm not in the closed beta, but it looks far more promising than AoC.

WAR > WoW > AoC

Warhammer40knerd
this should b solved with cross game pvp

Not bad at all.
AoC schools every other MMORPG on the market. Sure it could do with some polish but please lets face it its combat system is superb. That alone is enough to rank it higher than any MMO currently out on the market.

I was in beta, and must say that it's MUCH better now. I really enjoy it. Great depth, fun combat and stunning graphics.

First and foremost, lets get this straight. WoW is finished. Put simply, the game sucks. I just laugh when anyone has the nerve to try and compare WoW with any current MMO. They should've just made WoW for PS3 or xbox 360. Now for the real business. I haven't played either game yet. Atm I'm playing Vanguard and also have LOTRO on deck. I'm trying to find out if this game is gonna be worth the investment.

DX
The truth is:
I play WoW just for sunwell and BT( poor baby dont have t6) and is boring.
I play AOC most of the time and i love it( poor baby if you cant buy it at the store due M or your shit computer cant handle it)
I've played War with my friend=shit than WoW
GG no AoC good lucky
Wara and WoW more of the same. Think out of the box and see the reality of good games

An imcomplete and unoptimized game was released. Indeed its freaking great in its gameplay dynamic (mage with 8 fixed pets and more with certain spells) but its generally OVER the edge with its requirements. Even crytech looks better and yet demands less. The reccomended specs its more like the minimum requirements btw. I use a Core2Duo E6600 2 gig Ram and Duo 7600GT on a Sli bridge and I still get a barely decent framerate with shadows and reflections OFF

AoC starts strong and then falls on it's face. Hard. If you want to pick up a game that is enjoyable for about a month, then do AoC. After you hit about level 55 though it goes flat and becomes what feels like a massive grind fest. Not enough quests. Not enough immersion. Horrible implementation of end game PvP.
